The first track, Pre-Columbian Exposition I, begins with the sounds of the shore of a tranquil lake and evolves quickly into ambient drone. This section of the track is accompanied by Native American flute song, transforming what could be thought by some as an annoying or boring drone into an ethereal experience, conjuring up images of what Native American life was like before the arrival of the first settlers from the European nations. This more uplifting section evolves into a more somber drone in the second half of the track, bringing to mind the spiritual ceremonies Native Americans have practiced for eons.
The second track, Pre-Columbian Exposition II, begins with a decidedly South American percussion, building and adding instruments as it winds it’s way into an almost oppressively dark drone. What makes this track special is it’s sudden transitions. At one moment it is dark, somber, and meditative; the next, sounds of the rain forest lead directly to the lilting, almost haunting melody of a pan flute. This evolves into more ambient drone, finishing off the track with some lovely synth pads, ultimately ending with the sounds of an open fire at night, out under the stars.
Highly recommended for listening while meditating, reading/studying/working at home.
